Amethyst in Love - Romance Novella

Updated: Feb 4, 2021

Getting to know me a little better

Hi, I'm Arnita Renee or Nita Nae. My dad, Otis W. Leonard, still today calls me Nita for short. And of course, Nae comes from my middle name. I've journaled since the beginning of High School, and it was my English Teacher Mr. Katzman, who ignited my artistic side; whether it was acting, or writing, or doing crazy routines with my best friend at the time to "Blue Moon." It wasn't until I was 22, that Amethyst in Love was born. I loved the idea of love, I loved love stories, but to know genuine love outside of my parents, I never received in my marriage. I wanted to write what I wanted my love life to be. I wanted what my parents had. I wanted the fantasy, because I didn't know any better.

1 John 4: 18, 'Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love.' Amethyst in Love, deals with being born in a family who could not show love; even in its basic form. Jacqueline was the only girl born out of three children, and her father didn't want her. She learns this ugly truth at an early age by the woman who should have loved her, her mother. Carrying it into her adulthood; she doesn't see love coming a mile away. Her interaction with her boss, her friend, and an unexpected date from a bowling alley troll ends in disaster. She has to come to terms with her hurt, when love presents itself as admiration. She has to decide to stay in her hurt or fight past her childhood trauma and accept the love of a man who's willing to love her in uncertainty and faith.

Writing Topic:

Do You have what it takes to write? Loving and having a passion for writing doesn't have to be the beginning factor to write a story, but it is very important. The first thing you should discover is whether you have the imagination to tell the story God placed in you. Whether it was your own story, someone else's or you have the desire to help someone through your own story. Also, just because you love to read books, doesn't mean you were meant to write. On the flip-side of that spectrum, you don't have to be an avid or ferocious reader in order to be a writer, be willing to learn and improve in this craft.

Writing Resource:

I wanted to write this portion, and I will also talk about it in the Video as well, because there is so much a beginning writer doesn't know, and can get lost. First, determine what's the best way for you to start the process of your writing. Everyone is different, and you must find out what best fits your writing style.

Out-Liners do an outline draft of the book, described by the "Snowflake Method for Designing a Novel" by Randy Ingermanson How To Write A Novel Using The Snowflake Method (advancedfictionwriting.com)

Pantsers write and write and finish a novel. They then go back to flesh out the details and plot, and make sure it flows and makes sense.

There are those who do both. Depending on what I'm writing, I will do both. For example, my main writing style is panster, but when I started writing Apocalyptic 8, I outlined that book, because it caused me to do more research and to plot it out correctly. I had to think about what each character would experience, what was going to be the major conflict, and because their names change in the second book, I had to make sure it flowed.

Last, there are holes for each one of these, here's a post that talks to what keeps you from finishing. 2 Ways Your ‘Plotter’ or ‘Pantser’ Writing Style Is Keeping You From Finishing That Novel | by Merethe Walther | Medium

Q & A:

The one question that seems to surprise author's the most is, 'what do they like to do for fun?' So, I am going to answer that question. I love watching movies, and because of the pandemic, we aren't able to go into the movie theatres, it's been difficult. I enjoy being in the theatre watching an action packed drama, eating popcorn, and engrossing myself into the film. I love epic movies like Star Wars, The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings, The Matrix Series, John Wick Series, and Marvel & DC movies.
