J. L. Rothstein has a fantastic imagination. As an Accountant and no background in writing, the idea for Atonement came to her eight years ago. She had a dream that Gabriel would show up in odd places.
Her original draft wasn’t optimal, and when her husband advised her it seemed stitched together, she went back to the writing board by attending a creative writing class. “It was a long process.” She states. And the result is Heaven Sent!
Our Interview
Jennifer is fun and the picture above shows her personality. She has strong family values and along with her older sister Grace, her parents fostered an atmosphere of a “Just do it” attitude. So when she put her hand to the writing plow, Grace, one of her biggest cheer leaders, along with her husband Alan, encouraged her and declared she could do this.
Family dynamic resinates through the pages, although the principal focus is on the three sisters: Genevieve, Deborah, and Kelly. It’s a family-affair with the nine siblings looking out for each other. They fight demonic forces and help unsuspecting humans from taking the wrong path to hell. I don’t want to give away anything, but wait until you read about Genevieve using her abilities as she’s on top of a car!

J. L. puts you there with the Omara’s, as they are fighting side-by-side or alone. Jennifer says, “Throughout this process, it felt magical making things up,” as the most fun and fascinating part about creating this book. She commissioned Jeff Brown out of Canada to do her book cover. Heaven Sent is a trilogy, so she’s working on volume 2, and it will go to an editor in the Fall. Look for it, Spring of 2021.
As an Indie Author, her audience is New 20s Adult. She uses Microsoft Word and gets free services and advice from Reedsy.com. J.L. is a blogger and writes about topics that inspire her. With excitement, she describes Jon Krakauer's writing and how great he is at being descriptive. She enjoys interviewing other writers with her segment: Three Questions With..., reading, and spending time with family in a smaller setting these days. Jennifer looks to be a better author and her future goals are to pay it forward. She wants to build trust with her readers by honing her craft.
